Unique Wordpress Plugin #1 - All In One S.E.O

Feb.29, 2008
3

All In One Akismet PluginAs mentioned in my post I did a while ago, I have been using the “All In One S.E.O” Wordpress Plugin which lets me customize headings, descriptions and keywords. How this works is that it creates separate titles, descriptions and keywords for the search engines [For Techies: It uses "ALT" parameters on every post] than you might have inside of your actual post.

For example, If I wanted to create a post about sandwiches and titled it, “Grilled Cheese” on my blog, I could use this plugin and create another title for Google which would be, “Amazing Grilled Cheese Sandwhich Recipe“. Amazing huh?

This is a must for every blogger as you will NOT obtain decent Search Engine hits if you don’t use this plugin. The link for the easy download is right here and installation is as easy as uploading it to your wp-content folder and activating it!

Tune in tommorow for another plugin that you will need to make your blog the BEST it can be.

Firefox Eating IE (Internet Explorer)

Waiting for Firefox to load… Sucks.

I’ve had a great idea for a post to write for my blog. Usually I will open Firefox and wait 30 seconds for it to load completely. Well, that had been fine until I forgot what I was going to do last night. That idea was lost until a couple hours later when I finally revived it in my thoughts. Angry, I looked for a solution and found an excellent program. Without further Adieu…

Heres how you can launch your Firefox browser instantaneously!

  1. Go to this sourceforge page and download the .exe file.
  2. Launch and install.
  3. Your good to go.
  4. Enjoy this browser for what it really is known for… Reference the picture

Make Money Online Without Sponsored Reviews

Feb.25, 2008
2

Alright. You have a blog and want to make some cash. Maybe to fund your domain name + hosting, buy some ads on other websites, buy a sponsored review.. Whatever. Thats not the point here. You’ve maybe done a couple of sponsored reviews and made a little bit of money. If you would like some money for selling links, TNX.net offers just that.

The setup is ultimately complex, good luck completing the steps to get an account..

  1. Visit the website and Register your information
  2. Verify your email
  3. Submit Your Site
  4. Paste the code on your site!

If your website has half decent traffic, you should be getting your first “TNX points” (which is just as good as cash) which you can either convert to money, or use to buy other links. The coolest offer they have going right now is that they will give you 5,000 free links by following the instructions on their Digital Point Forum Post. Not bad for just getting started!!

Their referral program also offers 12.5% of all of the TNX points your referrals make, so if you don’t want to do heavy linkage on your websites, you can advertise your referral URL and make points that way.

http://TNX.net  seems to offer a lot and seem like the easiest way to get inbound links.. The only question now is.. Will they deliver?

Making Money Online…Or, Accepting Every Offer

Christmas L.E.D LED LightsThe internet has been a way to make money since the year it was started. People bought out the common domain names and then kept them for years to come, pocketing hundred thousand dollar paychecks when being sold. Then came the “Get Paid To” gold rush that promised money for doing surveys, clicking ads, etc. Presently, Anyone can make money when using a blog by blogging about advertisers products or services, which is what this post will be focused on today. How much is too much?

Countless times I’ve used Google to answer my questions, and have often found the answers on blogs. Seeming interested, I go to the main page to see that they now blog about, “Christmas L.E.D Lights” and “Buy Essays”. Its a shame though that the blog with an interested reader with decent S.E.O. (I usually click the first or second link on Google) would sell their content space off with endless ads.Buy Essay

Some people only accept ads that are related to what they talk about, and others accept every offer they have and cram their blog full of ads, maximizing their profits. Every time I see an obvious paid blog post, I will probably think less or not go back to the blog in question. They just show the person’s greed for money and can’t write a decent post that covers up the advertisement.

So this leaves me with two questions to my faithful readers

If the price was right for a single post, would you accept the offer and write about the subject in question? A second question.. How often do you accept sponsored posts?

Weekly Website Review x2 - Crafter VS. The Path

Feb.23, 2008

Boxing Gloves Vs YeaaDoing the weekly website review project has been fun and has opened my eyes to my readers blogs! I’m sure that pretty much every reader here knows about my free offer for them (If not go here, Where have you been? ). This week I’m going to “Constructively” Critique both of the blogs in the form a competition. The first blog is CrafterBS and is about “The personal experiences of a crafting business.” The second blog is The Path To Total Financial Freedom and is aboutA Guide on how to succeed with the amazing Passport To Wealth Business Opportunity”… Let the Games Begin!

First Impressions:

- CrafterBS - When I load that blog into my browser, a simple template comes up with her title and description. if you look closely at the title image you can see that you changed the blue background to a white one. Also, you can see the blog catalog box behind the sidebar almost as if it’s being used as a background in the top left corner.

- Path - the path to financial freedom is also using a blogger template with little customization, except the sidebar. you can see a larger image on his first post when you load the blog so that instantly draws attention to what he has to say.

Winner - Path To Financial Freedom because of the large image that instantly attracts attention to the post. Since CrafterBS has ones on her other posts but not the first one, it makes the reader gradually look at the sidebar and then the content, which could effect readers. Solution? Place Images in Posts.Remove those widgets

Sidebar and Footer Clutter:

- CrafterBS - The sidebar on this blog as everything from feed burner to latest posts and even when she is going to become a grandma. There are some widgets that she could take off so that it would be less distracting, such as: the caps lock on all of her latest posts which instead she could just use regular font, and everything in the following picture should be removed.

- Path - The sidebar and footer are cluttered beyond the point of being able to read the large articles on this blog. Thousands of links, pictures, even manta rays and fish are on the side bar. The footer is just a large mess of links. My advice? Take off some widgets Remove everything and only put on essential widgets.

Winner: CrafterBS for obvious reasons.

Most Importantly, The Content:

- CrafterBS - As the title suggests, its about her crafting buisness and her adventures while doing it. My personal favourite post was about how she travelled with her husband to go to a craft show. It provided some laughs and made you think of your experiences when you were in the same shoes as her. Although, not everything is perfect, as she somtimes will stray off topic (take her latest post for example which is about how her daughter could find her soul mate on American Idol  )

- Path - The path to financial freedom is more about Search Engines and Making Money with either a home buisness, or online. Since the articles are very long, it may sometimes be hard to follow the entire article and you may get bored. Although there are some great tips inside, shorter articles would be a great way to increase readers as then you could get down to the point, and fast!

Overall Winner: CrafterBS :!: and close behind is the Path. The only reason Crafter won was because of the easy to read articles (large font, kept reader interested) and a little less clutter than The Path.

Of course, my opinion is only half of the story.. Whats yours? Did I make the wrong choice?

Comment below and let the world know!

Pen And PaperI’ve been having some “fluctuation” (for the worst  ) with my subscriber feed count today and thought of this post that I could write about it. I’ve concluded that even though people may un-subscribe from my blog, the largest part of the fluctuation is that many people don’t tune into their R.S.S readers everyday and then Feedburner counts that as an “Unsubscription“.

I’m sure that you know that writing good content is the key to gaining readers and traffic, so I won’t go into detail about that.

So, if your blog is hitting a rough patch in your subscriber or reader count, don’t be discouraged.. Your loyal readers will just have more posts to read later when they turn their Really Simple Syndication (..So thats what R.S.S Stands for!!) readers on.

An above all, If you do manage to lose a couple subscribers.. Don’t stop writing content thats worth reading, or the past will be replayed in the future.
