Wordpress Spam Blogs That Subscribe You To Their CommentsI load your blog in Firefox and read one of your fascinating articles. I decide that yes, I will give you a comment for the work you have done, expressing my opinion and maybe receive a free back-link to www.bradblogging.com (NoFollow is a great plugin to remove Wordpress’s “No-Follow” policy, giving your readers a free link to their website when they comment). Of course I have to fill in the standard “Name, Email, Website” boxes with my real information to continue to comment. Once I’m done I will submit it. ;)

So when I have seen all of the latest articles on your site, away I go stumbling or doing other things. Perhaps even check my email! So after I’m done logging in, I see 20 new messages from your blog with the same title post that I commented on! Realizing that I commented on a blog that automatically subscribes me to any other comments posted on that particular article, I angrily delete the comments and never comment (or perhaps visit) again on that website.

Nothing can drive a visitor more crazy than commenting on a post and using their time to input their opinion, to then be blind-sidedly subscribed to all the comments their after. The Wordpress C.M.S. (Content Mangegment System) comes with the option of subscribing to comments at the end of the comment area with a little “check-box” that you can select. :D

So in an attempt to gain more comments on the posts that your write, DO NOT automatically subscribe your faithful commenter’s (if there is such a word) to the ones after theirs, because it causes an unnecessary distraction in their Inbox. If they are interested in what other people have to say, they will come back!!

Can you Rely on Akismet for Spam Safety?

Feb.17, 2008

After logging into my blog this morning to check what had happened over night, I saw that no comments had been typed and were awaiting moderation, but there were 3 supposed spam comments. Curious to see what this Akismet program found worth putting a spam label on them, I clicked on it.

I was shocked and disgusted to see two of my readers comments simply labelled spam! Reference the picture for more information: Akismet Spam? I don't think so

This really questions my motives as to why I am using this program to “protect” me from spam. This isn’t the first time it has happened either!

If I’m going to have to do this every time I see some “Spam” in the trash bin, what good is this program? I mean yes, it does get rid of the obvious bot and viral linking abuse, but I don’t want to have to check to be sure…

Have you had any problems with Akismet?

A New Strategy - Helping Everyone

Feb.16, 2008

Blogging isn’t all about gaining the most readers or making the most money, its also about helping other people out and getting that special warm and fuzzy feeling! After reading a post about how including links would help everyone in SEO and Technorati, I thought, Why not? You get to learn about new bloggers that have just started writing articles and help them rise to fame instead of linking to the latest Problogger post.

Another strategy that I will be implementing into my blog is full posts instead of partial ones. It’s just plain annoying to click that “Read More” link every time you want to read an article. You won’t see a “Read More –>” anymore around here. It also helps readers that are subscribing via R.S.S to just read the article in their browser and not making them load my page in another window. It basically destroys the meaning of syndication.

So I hope you’ve enjoyed my update..

Look at this!

Problogger is making a 6-figure income every year from just writing articles! Shoemoney’s raking in over $100,000 in Adsense with only one check! But wait! Is that Micheal Martin is making $695 per blog he designs?!? Man! Don’t you want to be like those guys?

What Is The Next-Best Website? PT - 1

First came Google back in 1998, and rose to everyday knowledge by around 2003 - when it really started to become popular. Used in countless movies and billions of people per day, it is the ultimate search engine clearly destroying every other one.

Then came Myspace in 2004 which traffic has been increasing yearly by about 2% of the internet population (and still is). Despite viruses and other server glitches, it has still been the ultimate place to meet new people for many years.

After the majority of people got bored of Myspace they searched for an alternative and found Facebook which started in 2006 which increased their traffic to 6% in only 2 short years!

These sites are great and draw people to their sites for reasons..The ability to search things and the easy to use interface, so my question today is: “What is the next Myspace/Digg/Facebook multi billion dollar website?”

CrazyBeing a fan of free advertising, I’ve decided to start using entrecard on this website which is located on my sidebar, just under the “category” section. Thus will give bloggers some “Compensation” and “Return” for reading this blog if they simply drop the card on my blog.

So thats a plus to start.. No? Go ahead and drop one!

Next off I will be offering free links to anyone’s blog or website. Simply comment on this post with the website url and title you want… only if your interested (who wouldn’t be?).

Thats another plus…What could come next?
