There are so many webhosts out on the internet, that sometimes it can be daunting when choosing one. The real big problem is the amount of features that APPEAR to give you a good deal for X amount of money, then turning around and finding out that you could get all that + more at another host for cheaper. How Do You Choose?

In order to make it easier for anybody that is going to create a blog or website, I’ve compiled a list of features that you should look for in a web host: (For People That Don’t Know What MB and GB are: 1MB = 0.001GB and 1GB = 1000MB).

The List Of Web Hosting Features To Look For:

• Web Hosting Space - The Amount of Storage You Have For The Content, Images, etc on Your Account - The More The Better. (Ideal would be 1GB+. My blog and other websites use a total of 57.86MB

• Bandwidth - The Amount Of Traffic Your Webhost Allows Through Your Account, - The More The Better. (Ideal would be 10GB + per month. My blog used 2.415 GB in July and my host provides me with 512GB)

• Are PHP / MYSQL Supported? - Required For Wordpress and Dynamic Websites

• Do you get Free Domains with your purchase? - Many hosts offer free domains when you purchase hosting with them.

• Do you get a large (or unlimited) amount Email Accounts? - My Host offers 10,000 email accounts and I’ve used about 3.

• Does your host support FTP Transfer? - Required For Wordpress Plugins and editing static HTML websites without a CMS like Drupal or Joomla.

• Can you add Addon Domains incase you buy another domain name? - Useful for plans that have too much storage/bandwidth as you can add it to your account and share it with your plan.

• Are there any hidden costs? - Some hosts charge money to transfer domains if they were bought from another web registrar.

• Lastly, How good is there customer support? - I’ve had my blog compromised, and also been banned from my own website, I couldn’t of been happier with the responsiveness of mine. Believe me, YOU WILL use your webhosts technical support team more than once.

I have an automatic Google Pagerank checker on my Firefox toolbar and saw that my blog was updated to a Pagerank of 3. Horray! Another +1 to the site.

Many of you may of noticed how we changed our niche from “Daily Blog Tips” to “Personal Blog Tips And Blog Advice”. In order to make that mean something, I felt that the best way to do that would be to answer some questions that some of my readers had. It could range from anything Wordpress (Plugins, Permalinks, Category Choices, etc), to Blogging (How to increase comments, Increase R.S.S Subscribers, Better SEO, etc).

Reason? - Many people do things with their families/friends on the weekend and don’t have time to read blogs. For those that do, you could highlight your best posts throughout the week or link to other posts that you have enjoyed. I also notice a downward fluctuation during the weekend in my R.S.S Subscribers

Why is this post so short?

What can be said in 150 words can most likely be said in 80.

I tried cutting out the fluff in this post.

Time and time again in my email, I see blog posts that highlight interesting posts from other blogs on Sunday. I just took a moment to think, “How could that help somebodies blog?”. I mean sure it gives back-links to other blogs, but theirs no real benefit to doing it for yourself. Then the answer suddenly hit me.

Why Linking To Other Articles Benefits You:

2 reasons come to mind after thinking of reasons why this is good for your blog.

• The first one is that it gives your readers something to read on your blog while you think of more content to write about. You could also call it a, “A filler post” until more original stuff gets written. That way, you can choose what you link to and provide the readers with articles that are related to what you blog about.

• The second one is that being a blog owner and getting a link from other blog is unexpected and pleasantly satisfying at the same time. Obviously, when you see a new link in your blog dashboard, it only gives around 20 words where you link was used. So then the owner will likely want to see where and why his/her link was created, generating traffic and perhaps a, “Thanks for the link!” comment. I like to think that what “Goes Around Comes Around“, so it never really hurts to give it a shot.

Hey there everyone.

Today was a good day until around 12pm (noon) when my Wordpress installation had gone crazy (Or somebody comprimised the blog, I’m not sure which). It redirected every page to the “Wordpress Install” page and when you tried to “Re-Install” the blog, it created a page of errors so long, I didn’t have enough time to read them.

Then somebody registered a user in the MYSQL database (taking advantage of the glitch, trying to gain admin access through the “Create User And Email” during the Wordpress Install) which I removed and was very displeased about. The email was obviously fake, but it’s a good thing I checked the actual database for any tampering, or we may of just had another person giving you spam content.

So I had a great time contacting my tech support and fixing the problem. Thanks to Tina @ Bluefur.com for helping me with the issue.

I don’t know what the problem was, but it has gone away now (Hopefully )

As for now, I’m going to be vamping up my security and update Wordpress to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Do you have Wordpress 2.6?

More times than not, when I go “Blog-surfing“, I read an article or two that sparks my interest, and then I usually will subscribe…

Wait a minute.. WHERE DO I SUBSCRIBE? This blog in question has no button and makes the visitor look all over the blog for a simple button that would enable the visitors to do so.

This Technique to gain RSS Subscribers to your Rss Feed or Blog is actually really simple to understand and learn from. In order to convey it in a friendly, kind manner, I will put it in a list.

1. Get a cool RSS icon from ProBlogDesign’s list (or find your own).
2. Place it above the fold and link it to your RSS feed.
3. Watch more people subscribe as a result of it.
