Did anyone else lose all of their email subscribers?

Just a quick update that perplexed me when I saw the stats.

I lost all of my email subscribers in one day, making my feedcount from around 190 go down to around 100. Has anyone else had this weird little glitch?

If this has happened to you, fear not! I have felt the effect of this weird glitch as well. We can only hope that feedburner fixes the problem as quickly as it appeared. :)

    Hello,
Followed you over from NetFool and our little comment war, again sorry if I sounded obnoxious! I can tell you that I see fluctuations like this often in my Feedbruner count and so does every blogger. It should go back up in the next few days. In reality, I think that I have a good amount more readers than is shown in FB at any one time, considering comments and new commentators and sales I have had on the blog, but who knows.

I would say, don’t stress the count so much, I used to and it did me no good, and if you check once a day, you may find these fluctuations more often, I only check about twice a week. Also did you install the Feedburner Feedsmith plug-in? It reroutes all the ways people can read your feed to your FB feed, it really pumps up the count. Anyway, I subscribed so you should have one more :-)

Mine are OK but I’ve heard a few people complaining about this on Twitter… must be a FeedBurner issue, it’s probably be back to normal tomorrow.

You didn’t just merge your Google and FB accounts did you? I’ve seen a few glitches because of that.

Well, Brad.. this issue is just a temporary glitch which is pretty common issue with Feedburner. It should be back in a day or two.

@ Dennis – Glad I’m not the only one!

@ Dot Com Dud – I’m glad you aren’t effected by this glitch.

@ TV Kota – Hmmm, Thanks for your comment.. I think I see some shameless link promotion as well :D

@ Rory – No, I haven’t merged them.. But thanks for bringing up the issue with doing that.

@ Yan – Thats great. Thanks for your reassurance.. The stats are back to normal.

It really hurts when you see something like that happening, but this proves to show that bloggers should market their blog to gain feed reader subscribers instead.

This happens to me sometimes too. My subscriptions will suddenly go from around 25 to 6 or 7, and then the next day its back up again. Annoying, but after the first couple of times I realized it was just a glitch.

    Hey Brad!
Do you use Feed Blitz for email? If not, I recommend it to you it is a very good service and builds a real list this way you can back up your subscribers in case some accident happens. Its free. They have a premium service as well that is similar to Aweber in some aspects but I have not tried the premium service myself. P. S. It also counts for Feed Burner stats like Aweber.

@ JR – I always thought that FB’s statistics were delayed by a day anyway. I think your right when you judge the amount of readers based on feedback and community involvement. Glad you’ve subscribed – I’ll do my best to make it worth your while (content wise..lol). :)

@ Play – All you can do is react to the situation. Thanks for your input.

@ Gini – I’ve seen numerous glitches before in FB.. this one just struck me as odd.

@ Archie – Can’t say I’ve tried Feedblitz. I might have to give it a shot! :D Thanks for the heads up.

This has been happening to me a lot lately, too. I think I know what happens, but I may be wrong. It seems like every time someone new to my site subscribes by e-mail, the next day the e-mail subscribers do not show in FB stats. P.S. One good way to make sure to know when something wonky is going on with the way it is delivered is to subscribe to yourself both by RSS and by e-mail. Your counts will be off by two, but you will be able to see when strange things happen on the other end AND you will know that your subscribers did not all decide to drop you at once – you wouldn’t unsubscribe from yourself now would you?
