New Design – Liquid Width For Better Reading

I’d like to explain for the lack of posts that were written for the last 7 days – I was developing this new WordPress theme for my blog. It features a liquid width, which means that it will expand to match the size of your browser, no matter what your resolution. In simpler terms, it means that it is easier to read for you.

The New Blog Design Features:

  • An original logo designed by im3d – I’d like to thank him for the fantastic job he did with the customized B and Bloggervenue.com for the refferal (Oddly enough, through a post that he did on his new logo).
  • More organized sidebar with the use of ubër cool icons.
  • Dynamic width of content and sidebar depending on your screen resolution.
  • A New Favicon – the logo looks great even shrunk :P
  • Link Highlights – any links on the the blog will highlight a light green when you scroll over it.. meaning that it is clickable.
  • Search boxes that will clear upon people clicking them – faster searches/email subscriptions.
  • Interesting navigation bar, high-lights upon scrolling over it.

Of course, no design that I’ve (or anyone else) coded is perfect. I realize that it might take a while before it is completely polished, or if I decide to add new features to the design.. Can’t really think of anything right now that would benefit the reader.

If any glitches or design errors arise while your visiting the site, I simply ask you to comment on this post or contact me directly via email. You’d be helping me out with problems that I didn’t forsee during the testing that I did. Thanks, and heres to some more great content with a slick new design!

Wow, this is awesome Brad. Cool logo on the ‘B’ though I feel that the choice of text could be made better, perhaps using a different font. All in all, it’s definitely a much better design than the previous one.

Congrats and good luck, buddy. I’m loving it.

    Nice new look!

I definitely love that liquid feature. It treats my browser like it’s special :)

It also looks a lot cleaner with all the white surrounding it!

    Nice job!

Cool theme! :) Liquid layouts are kinda rare.

I don’t like splash of green in header. Too toxic and doesn’t really match anything on page.

Search/subscribe forms clear on click but do not restore if you click away from empty form (which is simple but looks cool).

Looks great Brad! You don’t see many liquid layouts about. Great idea :D

I love the sidebar most of all. It’s so clean, the icons looks great and the rollover effect is perfect! Well done.

There’s a slight bug on your search results page though. Some PHP errors, but the search still works, so it’s nothing bad!

@ Michael – Thanks for the heads up. I’ve fixed the problem (Was just some simple template tags that I forgot to replace.) :)

    Oooh…fancy new digs Brad!

Really like the new logo, it pops out nice and fresh. And I LOVE the liquid layout. I’ve got a big wide 24 inch monitor so it’s nice the blog fits my screen without any maneuvering or browser resizing required. Are the icons in the sidebar custom?

The green highlight is nice too to emphasize that it’s a link…might have to borrow and build on that idea for a few of my sites.
    ;)

The B in the header is wicked pimp.
