The Joys Of Open-Source Blogging Software

As you are all aware, Wordpress came out with V 2.7.1 – So instead of upgrading like a good blogger, I decided to wait a little while until I was a couple versions behind..

Well thats not the case anymore!

Once again, This lovely blog was hacked, producing the strangest error:

The email could not be sent.

Your Host may of disabled the ()mail feature!

Already of gone through this, I knew what had to be done. Instead of taking up my entire day, it took me about 20-25 minutes to fix.

I quickly replaced the error page with another one, which can be viewed below (to give some reassurance to organic search engine visitors and regulars):

Open Contemplation About Hackers:

They say, “Sex Sells” – Well, I can honestly prove to you that 95% of all my spam is about F@@king, G@ng-B@nging, (words were modified to avoid ranking for terms that attract more of the pesty bots – hint hint) etc. The way that these spam bots go at it 24 hours a day, must mean that there is some serious money in the porn business on the internet.

Either that, or people just have nothing better to do than try and gain illegal access to blogs, post their links, and leave. Oh right! Did I mention that while my blog was down, I had over 4000 spam links that were added to my error log? They may of been spam comments, or the hackers themselves, I’m not sure.. but it just goes to show that people will stop at nothing to use something to their advantage.

Ridiculous. Complete Bollucks. So how has your Saturday gone? :)

I am so afraid to upgrade, because when we upgraded to 2.7 our whole site blew up and we lost everything!!

So, I am going to wait to upgrade, luckily I haven’t got the email error!!

I’ve read somewhere that they’ve got less than 0,1% success rate. But with the ammount of spam being sent every day it actualy lets those spammers make quite a bit of money.

Welcome to the blog, web design miami :)

      0.1% x 100,000,000 spam comments equals $$$$$

It is pretty stupid how much is sent to wordpress blogs with akismet installed though.
