They lose me as a visitor and content reader. There are also nice designed ones, that present just crappy content. In the end it's the 2 of them. A nice skin is not that hard to find and even mod. If you can't design, then hire someone. Buy a 60 USD template, do something and it's OK.I am a designer, so sure, I am biased, not to mention that it takes me some hours to put up a nice design. For the people who are less prepared, there are lots of nice skins and people to be hired. Looks do sell and they also offer you a more professional image.Ramona Iftode's last blog post..Promote your web related article

There are so many good sites with such horrid design I just can’t stay on. But, I think 'an easy to use interface' and 'orginal content' are two different arguments. I would like to add; make sure your blog is accessible to the most people around the globe (browsers, device etc)!Stefan Vervoort's last blog post..Free CSS menu’s - Coming soon!

I agree with the points you made. Many readers may flood your blog due to attractive design but they may not stay longer. Even if the design is bad, the readership would increase gradually due to good content.OldSailor's last blog post..Ship Simulator 2008: Is it a Game or Tutor ?

It is actually the content which is important than the design.
