Stumbleupon is a unique tool that allows you to share websites that interest you with others. For some, it may drive a major amount of traffic to their website which can be found in my previous post. Though, sometimes people may not like the same things you do and will not give it a “Thumbs Up”. The top 5 things that I have learned about this program are that:
- Not every post you submit from your website will make your traffic counter spike enormously. (For instance, Yesterday I submitted my post about Adsense Alternatives and only received four hits for it!)
- A lone person that submits an article will not receive the same results as if he had 20 friends that also stumbled it as well. Increasing your networks of friends will make you have better results. (Add me if you would like another friend. My Stumbleupon User ID: Bradblog2)
- Encouraging stumbles at the bottom of a post via a button or graphic will yield more results than just a text link. (A Wordpress Plugin called Socialble will allow you to have many social networks at the bottom of your posts with a click of a button.)

- Don’t expect lots of money(If you have adsense or another P.P.C network) from Stumbleupon when you get lots of hits. Why click ads when the Stumble! button is going to turn up a website that interests you?
- Lastly, Writing posts about Stumbleupon usually gets a lot of buzz from the community.

Added you to my friends list. Right now you are a fan
Like the idea of adding buttons or graphics to bottom of articles. Will have to do that from now on
Nice tips! I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now and have added you to my friends list. I’m still rather new to SU. Hope to become a more active user soon
These are good tips and I don’t think a lot of noobs know them. Good Work!! I have had much success (if you call traffic spikes success) with SU, I am glad to add you as friend.
Did you get any hits from SU on this post?
Anyway, good tips - I knew about pretty much all of them but haven’t thought about the fifth one that much. I’ll have to try it out

@ Wendy - Thanks for the add, I’ll be sure to return the favour@ Tanya25m - Thanks for reading. Its because of you guys that give your opinion that I can write better articles.@ Sukosaki - I’ve also had great success with this program and plan to keep on using it for a while!! Glad its working for you too!@ Max - I get daily hits from this article, which is a grand bonus to the total hits on a pertaining day. Too bad all those hits didn’t turn into subscribers
Normally most of the blogs get good traffic from stumbleupon, but I have never tried it. I am mainly dependent mainly on Google for traffic. After reading your article, I am now very much interested in stumbleupon..
cheers..

Good stuff. Social traffic and search engine traffic are different categories. You can get more ad revenue from search engine traffic — but the social traffic is good for getting back-links, which in turn influence page rank.
