@ Scono – I didn’t find it either. Just activate the plugin and it will enforce the http:// or http://www preference – This probably didn’t help you

I must be missing something…I installed and activated the plugin but I can’t find where I actually set it for my preference. In WP Version 5 it doesn’t seem to appear anywhere in settings or management…does it?

I see what you mean Coen, but for links, it creates a 301 redirect that will count for the link-backs.

What your doing is just redirecting to the http:// , but all the links that have the http://www will not count toward your Pagerank and inbound links.
