Wendy’s OBA – Weekly Website Review

Wendy’s OBA is a buisness blog about blog tips, tips and tricks and more. Since her blog is hosted on Wordpress.com, this gives her no customization or editing of the source code. So the design is something I cannot comment about inside this review because of the lack of editing that is allowed. Which means that I will have to focus on the content and widgets… For better? Or for worse…

What has been done well:

  • Easy to navigate around website with the large tabs and links on the sidebar.
  • Content has pictures which makes it more appealing to the readers.
  • Has a tutorial section which could be interesting for new readers.

What could be done better:

  • Not using “other peoples posts” to fill space on her blog..Original content should be written.
  • Sidebar cleanup! When the site is loaded you are bombarded with different widgets that de-focus the main reason of blogging (the content)
  • Theres a button there that says, “This blog was nominated for the worst blog of all time” which really destroys the look of the blog and shows in confidence in her work.
  • Hosting on a private server which gives you ultimate customization and allows you to edit themes, code, etc.

Overall, if you can get past the standard theme, it has some posts that are interesting and keep the readers entertained.
